5L Rotary evaporator is an instrument and equipment for evaporation, concentration, crystallization, drying, separation, solvent recovery and other processes in the scientific research and production process of pharmaceutical, chemical, biological products and other industries.The 5L Rotary Evaporator is heated by water bath(oil bath) to form thin film under the negative pressure condition, evaporate highly, then condense and recycle the solvent simultaneously. 5L Rotary evaporator is particularly suitable for the heat-sensitivity material’s condensation, crystallization, separation, recovery and so on. It is one of the necessary basic instruments in the chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, universities and research laboratories and other units etc., while it is also the main means for producing concentrated extracts and analysis experiments.
5L rotary evaporator self-working principle:
Vacuum evaporation is used as a method of evaporation, because reducing the pressure above the liquid will reduce the boiling point of the component liquid in it, thereby speeding up the evaporation rate to a certain extent. The evaporating flask is placed in a water bath for constant temperature heating and at the same time it is rotating itself, and the solution in the bottle is heated, diffused and evaporated under the negative pressure condition in the rotating flask. The evaporation system can be sealed and decompressed to 400 to 600 mm Hg. Heating the solvent in the distillation bottle with a heating bath can be heated to a temperature close to the boiling point of the solvent. At the same time, it can also be rotated at a speed of 50 to 160 rpm to make the solvent form a thin film. Increase the evaporation area, in addition, under the action of the high-efficiency condenser tube, the hot vapor can be quickly liquefied to speed up the distillation rate.
5L rotary evaporator structure:
1. The rotating motor drives the evaporating flask containing the sample through the rotation of the motor;
2. The evaporating tube, the evaporating tube has two functions, firstly, it acts as a rotating support shaft for the sample, and secondly, the sample is sucked out by the vacuum system through the evaporating tube;
3. Vacuum system, used to reduce the air pressure of the 5L rotary evaporator system;
4. Fluid heating pot, usually the sample is heated with water;
5. Condensation tube, use double serpentine condensation or other condensing agents such as dry ice and acetone to condense samples;
6. Condensate the sample collection bottle, and the sample enters the collection bottle after cooling.

How to use 5L rotary evaporator:
1. Turn on the power, turn on the cooling system - turn on the main switch, power switch, wait for the self-test of the instrument for 60 seconds, when the cooling light is not flashing, turn on the circulation pump button, the cooling button, and set the cooling temperature.
2. Connect the rotary evaporator, make the water bath pot flush with the liquid level in the bottle, turn off the deflation button of the 5L rotary evaporator, turn on the vacuum pump, and let go only when the vacuum degree is greater than 0.04 MP.
3. Turn on the rotary button and adjust the speed. The speed should not be too high at the beginning to prevent bumping. Turn on the temperature button and set the appropriate temperature according to the boiling point of the solvent to be evaporated.
4. When there are liquid droplets falling evenly in the distillation bottle, the rotary steaming starts.
5. Hold the flask with your right hand, and slowly open the air valve with your left hand to deflate; when the vacuum degree drops by 0.04MP, turn off the vacuum pump and remove the rotary steamer.
6. Turn off the water bath heating; turn off the condensation cycle; (turn off the refrigeration button, circulation pump button, power button, and rear main switch in turn).
7. Dispose of condensed waste liquid in time and clean up the instrument area.
8. When you stop using it, turn the rotary knob to a small position, turn off the rotary switch, and unplug the power plug in time.
Precautions for the use of 5L rotary evaporator:
1. When using, first draw a small vacuum (to about 0.03MPa), and then turn on the rotation to prevent the distillation flask from slipping; when stopping, first stop the rotation, hold the distillation flask by hand, and ventilate the atmosphere, and wait until the vacuum degree drops to about 0.04MPa. Stop the vacuum pump to prevent the distillation bottle from falling off and sucking back.
2. Each interface, sealing surface, sealing ring and joints need to be coated with a layer of vacuum grease before installation.
3. Water must be added before the heating tank is powered on, and dry heating without water is not allowed.
4. If the vacuum degree is too low, check the airtightness of each joint, vacuum tube and glass bottle.
5. When evaporating air-sensitive substances, connect a nitrogen balloon to the exhaust port, pass a burst of nitrogen gas first, discharge the air in the 5L rotary evaporator, and then connect the sample bottle for 5L rotary evaporator. After steaming, release nitrogen to increase the pressure, then turn off the pump, then remove the sample bottle and seal it.
6. If the viscosity of the sample is very high, the rotation speed should be slowed down, and the rotation speed should be slowed down by hand, so as to form a new liquid surface and facilitate the evaporation of the solvent.
Maintenance method of 5L rotary evaporator:
1. Check the instrument carefully before use, whether the glass bottle is damaged, whether the interfaces are consistent, and handle with care.
2. Wipe each interface with a soft cloth (you can replace it with a napkin), and then apply a little vacuum grease. Vacuum grease must be covered after use to prevent lime sand from entering.
3. The joints should not be tightened too tightly, but should be loosened regularly.
4. Turn on the power switch first, and then let the machine run from slow to fast. When stopping, make the machine stop, and then turn off the switch.
5. The PTFE switches everywhere should not be tightened too hard, as it is easy to damage the glass.
6. After each use, you must use a soft cloth to wipe off all kinds of oil stains, stains, and solvent residues left on the surface of the machine, and keep it clean.
7. Unscrew each PTFE switch after stopping the machine, and the PTFE piston will be deformed if it is still in the working state for a long time.
8. Clean the sealing ring regularly. The method is: take off the sealing ring, check whether there is dirt on the shaft, wipe it off with a soft cloth, then apply a little vacuum grease, and reinstall it to keep the shaft and the sealing ring smooth.
9. The electrical part must not enter the water, and it is strictly forbidden to be damp.

1. Quick and easy lifting mechanism
RE201D, RE301 and RE501 rotary evaporators are water tank lifting. Turning the handwheel on the oil/water bath drives the bath to lift and go down. RE5299 is the motor thread lifting, that is, turning the handwheel on the screw stem will drive the rotating flask, rotating motor, condenser and collecting flask to lift or go down at the same time.

3. High evaporation rate vertical condensation system
The condenser adopts two structures. One is the dual pipeline convection principle and is used for evaporating organic solvents. The other is single pipe container with interlayer that could hold cooling water, ice and drikold. It is vertical type to decrease volume and is used for evaporating organic solvents.
4. Heating Tank
Stainless steel heating tube provides heat source. The temperature range will be RT~99 ℃ with water. The water tank is cylindrical and made of high quality stainless steel. So it is corrosion resistance and durable. The tanks are available for 2-20liter rotating flask heated. Moreover, the tank can be moved according the rotating flask size.

PTFE evaporating pipe, good sealing and heat-resisting. Joint part is sealed Fluorine rubber mat which brings good performance.
6. Automatic Temperature Control Digital Display
Temperature digital display and control by pt100 sensor. when the pre-selected temperature is reached the temperature you setted, the controller automatically will turn off the heater supply, When it is lower than the pre-selected temperature, controller will switch on automatically to realize constant temperature.
7. Rotating flask and Collection flask
The flasks are made of GG-17 high borosilicate glass which is blowed by hand. Their intensity, concentricity, glossiness, and surface finish are better than rough flasks.
