The mini rotary evaporator is mainly used for continuous distillation of a large amount of volatile solvents under reduced pressure, such as distilling extracts and receiving liquids during chromatographic separation. The basic principle of the mini rotary evaporator is the vacuum distillation of the distillation flask under continuous rotation. As a heat source for distillation, it is often equipped with a corresponding constant temperature water tank.
Features of the Mini Rotary Evaporator:
1. All rotary evaporators are equipped with lifting motors, which can automatically lift the flask above the heating pot when the power is turned off.
2. Due to the centripetal force and friction between the liquid sample and the evaporating flask, the liquid sample forms a liquid film on the inner surface of the evaporating flask, and the heating area is large;
3. The force generated by the sample rotation effectively suppresses the boiling of the sample. In summary, modern rotary evaporators can extract most samples quickly and gently, even for inexperienced operators.
In addition, its vacuum system can be a simple suction pump submerged in a cold water bath, or a mechanical vacuum pump with cooling pipes. Evaporating and condensing glass components can be simple or complex, depending on the goals of the distillation and the properties of the solvent to be distilled.
Advantages and disadvantages of mini rotary evaporator:
Advantages of Mini Rotary Evaporator
1. All mini rotary evaporators have a built-in lifting motor, which can automatically lift the flask to a position above the heating pot when the power is off.
2. Due to the centripetal force and friction between the liquid sample and the evaporating flask, the liquid sample forms a liquid film on the inner surface of the evaporating flask, and the heating area is large;
3. The force generated by the rotation of the sample effectively suppresses the boiling of the sample. These features, combined with their convenience, make modern rotary evaporators suitable for fast and gentle distillation of most samples, even by inexperienced operators.
Disadvantages of mini rotary evaporator
The boiling of certain samples, such as ethanol and water, will result in the loss of the sample collected by the experimenter. In operation, boiling can usually be prevented by carefully adjusting the intensity of the vacuum pump or the temperature of the heating pot during the mixing phase of the distillation process. Alternatively, by adding anti-boil granules to the sample. For samples that are particularly difficult to distill, including those that are prone to foaming, special condenser tubes can also be configured for the rotary evaporator.
1. Quick and easy lifting mechanism
RE201D, RE301 and RE501 rotary evaporators are water tank lifting. Turning the handwheel on the oil/water bath drives the bath to lift and go down. RE5299 is the motor thread lifting, that is, turning the handwheel on the screw stem will drive the rotating flask, rotating motor, condenser and collecting flask to lift or go down at the same time.

3. High evaporation rate vertical condensation system
The condenser adopts two structures. One is the dual pipeline convection principle and is used for evaporating organic solvents. The other is single pipe container with interlayer that could hold cooling water, ice and drikold. It is vertical type to decrease volume and is used for evaporating organic solvents.
4. Heating Tank
Stainless steel heating tube provides heat source. The temperature range will be RT~99 ℃ with water. The water tank is cylindrical and made of high quality stainless steel. So it is corrosion resistance and durable. The tanks are available for 2-20liter rotating flask heated. Moreover, the tank can be moved according the rotating flask size.
5. Vacuum Sealing
PTFE evaporating pipe, good sealing and heat-resisting. Joint part is sealed Fluorine rubber mat which brings good performance.
6. Automatic Temperature Control Digital Display
Temperature digital display and control by pt100 sensor. when the pre-selected temperature is reached the temperature you setted, the controller automatically will turn off the heater supply, When it is lower than the pre-selected temperature, controller will switch on automatically to realize constant temperature.
7. Rotating flask and Collection flask
The flasks are made of GG-17 high borosilicate glass which is blowed by hand. Their intensity, concentricity, glossiness, and surface finish are better than rough flasks.
How to solve these problems when using the mini rotary evaporator?
1. The motor does not rotate
Take the method:
Reinsert the plug and connect the disconnected wire.
Update the fuse or confirm that the power supply is normal.
Update the circuit board or electric control box.
Properly connect the ground wire or change the working place.
2. Contents of detection of heating bath not heating:
Take the method:
The detection power supply is 220V.
Replace the heating coil. Replace solid state relay or relay board.
Replace the temperature controller.
Check the wiring of the probe or update the probe.
3. Contents of bath temperature detection:
Take the method:
Replace the temperature controller.
Replace the solid state relay or relay board.
Change the probe or temperature controller.
4. The detection content of the failure of vacuum pumping:
Take the method:
Empty the solvent and test with an empty bottle.
Vacuum oil pump oil (water), cleaning and maintenance.
Detect and eliminate segment by segment along the vacuum pipeline.
To reassemble, clean the ground surface of the glass wool sandwich panel, apply vacuum silicone grease, and align and tighten the flange.
Maintenance knowledge of mini rotary evaporator:
1. Check the instrument carefully before use, whether the glass bottle is damaged, whether the interfaces are consistent, and handle with care.
2. Wipe each interface with a soft cloth (you can replace it with a napkin), and then apply a little vacuum grease. Vacuum grease must be covered after use to prevent lime sand from entering.
3. The connectors should not be tightened too tightly, but should be loosened regularly to avoid the connectors being seized by long-term locking.
4. Turn on the power switch first, then let the machine run from slow to fast. When stopping, make the machine stop, and then turn off the switch.
5. Do not tighten the PTFE switches with excessive force, otherwise the glass may be easily damaged.
6. After each use, you must use a soft cloth to wipe off all kinds of oil stains, stains, and solvent residues left on the surface of the machine, and keep it clean.
7. Unscrew each PTFE switch after stopping the machine, and the PTFE piston will be deformed if it is still in the working state for a long time.
8. Regularly clean the sealing ring. The method is: take off the sealing ring, check whether there is dirt on the shaft, wipe it off with a soft cloth, apply a little vacuum grease, and reinstall it to keep the shaft and the sealing ring smooth.
9. The electrical parts must not be flooded and damp is strictly prohibited.
10. Before maintenance, please turn off the power switch, and disconnect the power cord from the power supply.
11. The maintenance of internal electric control components and heating components must be operated by professionals or professional electricians.
12. Do not pour water directly on the product or use abrasive powder, thinner, petroleum, kerosene, acidic substances and similar items when cleaning the site, otherwise it may cause electric shock and other accidents.
